Traffic is the bane of my existence.

I mean I really hate it. But I live in the San Francisco Bay Area so traffic is a never-ending thing. Between super-commutes, yes that’s actually what they call it, to really bad roads, I just can’t deal. And road trips to Southern California, if Disneyland wasn’t on the horizon, I would never survive.

So, Wayne and I have come to a decision; we’re gonna take the plunge and finally hit the road. We’ve known for years that’s what we wanted to do eventually, and the time is here, almost. Impulsive Cristine is, of course, ready to leave immediately but reality won’t allow it, so there’s that.

About 10 years ago we bought our RV with our sights set on the day we’d leave it all behind. We’ve enjoyed some amazing trips with family or without them in the interim, but now it’s time for a countdown.

We own our home and two rental properties close by, so we have to make some plans, move some stuff (ok, a lot of stuff) and purge about 30 years of accumulated life. Not sure if we will sell any of the properties yet but we do plan to keep our house just in case life on the highway isn’t as glamperous as I’m imagining. (but I doubt it)

Our plan right now is to spend the next year getting rid of said stuff, paying off any debt and getting our rig ready to go. I have big plans for an awesome RV makeover and Wayne, of course, will check and double and triple check every hose, bolt and whatchamacallit on the Phaeton Menace.

We’re thinking by next October, we’ll be ready to go. That’s the goal anyway.
