This post is for anyone who lives in a small space, not just an RV. I mean this is an RV blog so we talk about them a lot, but don’t let that stop you from getting some great space-saving tips.

Living in an RV or tiny house usually means living in far less space than a sticks and bricks house.

All of those things you have room for there may not fit in RV cabinets. All of those bowls, laundry baskets and even the garbage can have to be scaled down. On top of that everything has to have a place to ride while moving down the road and throwing it all on the bed on moving day then having to move it all somewhere else to sleep gets old quick. Ask me how I know.

Say you’re a gourmet chef. Most RVs are not going to have the space for all of your pots and pans or all of your cooking accessories. Not to mention a lack of prep space. Or maybe you’re an artist. How will you store your supplies?

Sometimes I feel like we brought the whole house with us and others I really miss something. For us, it’s usually tools. I am the woodworker in the family and I really miss my saws. Wayne is a mechanic and there’s always something he needs.

I know most RV’ers don’t live in them full time so maybe don’t need as much stuff but when you’re out in the middle of nowhere is not the time to realize you forgot mixing bowls when all you want are some pancakes. Oh, the horror.

To make sure this never happens to you we’ve found some awesome alternative RV accessories guaranteed to save space.

Collapsible Everything

collapsibe measuring cups and spoons

We love these collapsible measuring cups and spoons. Ours hang on the inside of a cabinet door.

collapsible bowls

Here’s that mixing bowl I promised you and it comes with a matching collapsible strainer

collapsible cereal bowl

Here’s a great bowl for just about anything from cheerios to your favorite soup. BPA free and can go in the microwave.

collapsible drinking cup

We all know traditional glasses take up a lot of cabinet space. With these collapsible ones, you can enjoy your favorite beverage in colorful style.

collapsible laundry basket

We have this exact laundry basket. It works great for laundry or as a bucket or even for washing the dog.

collapsible trash can

This collapsible trash can really comes in handy when traveling and boondocking. It holds a lot and saves from those frequent trips to find a dumpster.

This list can go on and on but really anything collapsible is a great space saver.

Anything Folding

origami cart

This origami cart adds much-needed counter space then folds away when in the way.

folding wagon

Now this one was a surprise to me. I never thought I’d need a wagon but I use this thing all the time. Going to the laundry mat, get the wagon. Going to the farmers market, get the wagon. We even use it for our dog if we go somewhere crowded so he doesn’t get stepped on.

folding chair

A lot of people swear by zero gravity chairs but this one is by far our favorite. It’s comfy, it has its own carry strap and it has a locking mechanism built it so you can carry it without its bag and it won’t open up on you.

folding table

Ok I know this table is kind of big but it works great for us. See Wayne is pretty tall so being able to raise this table up to a better cooking height for him and his grill make him a happy camper.

folding bikes

These folding bikes are so fun. They’re light weight and fold up small enough to fit in most RV compartments.

ottoman bed

Need extra sleeping space and don’t want to take down the dinette every night. This ottoman that turns into a bed may be the perfect solution.

More space saving tips

Another great way to save space is buy finding flat alternatives to everyday items.

flat kitchen gadgets

Imagine how many more gadgets you could fit in a drawer with this set of flat gadgets.

kitchen shelves

Add shelves. We’ve added shelves under the sinks and in the dish cabinet

Use the walls

spice jars

I have these jars and love them. So cute and gets all my spices out of the cabinet and onto the wall. They even stay on when we’re driving.

space saving wall pockets

These wall pockets are not only space-saving but also really cute. They hang over a door or can be screwed on.

mesh shower pockets

Speaking of hanging things, how about this mesh pocket organizer that fits on the shower rod and frees up counter space in that tiny bathroom.

I have an RV that I absolutely love. Never gave much thought about collapsible items. Love the ideas! The spice containers and the chair got my attention the most! Thanks for sharing. My son is using it now. So I will pass it on!
